For Schools

Also, member schools will have their contact information posted in our Members Area. We hope that schools will begin to schedule matches throughout the school year using this contact information.

Where will Tournaments be located?

We will pick locations to accommodate as many schools as possible. As a general rule, you should expect Sectionals to be within 30 minutes of your school. Districts will be within an hour drive. And, State will be located centrally, most likely in Columbus.

When will Tournaments be held?

Sectionals will most likely be on weekdays in the afternoon during the first two weeks of a month. Districts will be on the following weekends. State will be held around the last weekend of the month. For some events, State will be a two day event.

Is there a limit to the number of players/teams a school can have?

No, there is no limit.

How do I submit a team? Can my team change?

You can submit your team in the members area after you join OHSEA. You may change a team until about a month prior to a competition. You will receive notice of the final deadline to change your team upon registration.

Does my team have to be from one school?

Ideally, yes. However, since many schools do not have an eSports team or club, we are allowing teams to be composed of players from different schools. This exception will last for our first two seasons only.

In addition to this exception, we will allow players from outside of Ohio to compete in our events for the next two seasons.

If the fee is due this year, why are the tournaments next year?

Unfortunately, this is the reality for our first year. We need to reserve conference centers for next year’s events well in advance. Rest assured though, your payment now is the only payment required for the entire 2017-2018 season. So, students in grades 8 through 11 should sign up for our events as Seniors will graduate prior to our first competition.

What is the amount of the winning scholarship?

Scholarship amounts will be based on number of event entries. We want to give as much as we can to our players.

What should I bring to an event?

For PC events, bring a mouse, keyboard, and headset. For console events, bring a controller. All games, consoles, and PCs will be provided.

To be added to this list, please email admin@ohioesports.org. Be sure to include a description of your gaming style and your contact information.
